The new 2010 Taurus earned the “Most Significant” at NAIAS.
With its impressive class-leading array of technologies to add convenience, connectivity and safety for our customers, the editorial team at AutoWeek named Ford Taurus “Most Significant” of all vehicles displayed at the January 2009 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit.
In addition, the editors also awarded Ford Shelby GT500 as “Most Fun.” Coming just two days after the 2009 Ford F-150 was named “North American Truck of the Year,” the AutoWeek auto show awards recognize Ford’s product-driven momentum.
The new 2010 Ford Taurus leads a wave of new vehicle introductions, demonstrating Ford’s commitment to providing customers expressively designed, technically advanced and fun-to-drive vehicles at a good value.
“This important recognition from the editors at AutoWeek affirms that our new product plans are taking hold, and that Ford is building more products people really want and discerning journalists value. We want to thank AutoWeek for these distinctions – and for recognizing how hard our product teams have been working to further strengthen Ford’s product lineup.”
– Mark Fields, Ford’s President of The Americas
“We’re delighted that the editors at AutoWeek see the new Ford Taurus, and its unique blend of style, substance, class-leading highway fuel economy and meaningful technologies as highly significant.”
– Derrick Kuzak, Ford’s Group Vice President for Global Product Development
“It looks new… and I think that is important to be Taurus. Each one of the famous Taurus’s had it’s own distinct identity all the way back from the very original through the early 90’s they had a distinct identity of their own and that is what I think this one has.”
– Peter Reyes, Ford Chief Engineer
The 2010 Ford Taurus SHO earned Esquire’s editors’ unanimous choice for men to drive, every day.
The popular men’s magazine Esquire cited the vehicle’s performance, stylish looks and attainable price tag as some of the key factors in their decision to name the 2010 Taurus SHO as its inaugural Car of the Year. The Taurus SHO was up against some of the best luxury sedans in the industry as Esquire magazine editors evaluated nearly a dozen significant new cars. The article appears in the magazine’s July issue, on newsstands now.
The sports sedan is powered by its “Super High Output” (SHO), Ford’s most powerful EcoBoost twin turbocharged engine. The 3.5-liter EcoBoost™ V-6 engine delivers V-8 levels of power – delivering 365 horsepower – without compromising its V-6 fuel economy. The Taurus SHO will be available later this summer, starting at $37,995, including destination fees.
“We’re thrilled and honored with this award. Taurus – and the SHO model honored here – are Ford’s flagship sedans. We trust that customers will be equally impressed.” – Frank Davis, Executive Director, Ford North American Product Programs
“We had three main criteria in selecting the Esquire Car of the Year. The vehicle needed to be a pleasure to drive and be capable of shortening your breath when you slam down the pedal. It needed to be gorgeous and aggressive, capable of eliciting stares and gawks. And it needed to be attainable – a vehicle that most men actually can buy and drive. The new Taurus SHO nailed all of these parameters.” – David Granger, Esquire’s Editor-in-Chief
“The reason we care about the new Taurus can be boiled down to four words: Looks good, goes fast. With a 3.5-liter turbo V-6, dubbed EcoBoost™, you get V-8 power with V-6 fuel economy. The SHO is a sleeper – a vehicle you can live with every day, that happens to have a secret under the hood.” – Ezra Dyer, Esquire Automotive Correspondent
Busy Dad Takes Family Trip to Vegas in Ford Flex
When we contacted Jim Lin of Busy Dad about taking a spring break trip in the Ford Flex, he had a pretty special trip already in mind. Jim’s mom was competing in the Ballroom Dance Nationals in Las Vegas and he needed a vehicle to get him and his family there to support her while she was competing in the finals. She ended up winning two medals and Jim and his family got to Vegas in style!
“My Favorite Thing: The fridge in the middle console. So you lose a potential seat with the fridge, but I would gladly tie an extra passenger to the roofrack to be able to enjoy a cold beverage whenever I want to. Especially in LA, where traffic and heat are a daily challenge. It even has freeze mode — perfect for keeping specimens from field trips that didn’t make the drive home and are starting to smell.
Overall, I have to say I really like the Ford Flex. I wouldn’t give up my current car to have one, but my wife would. And has been asking for one ever since Vegas. “

Ploomy Test Drives a Lincoln MKS to See What the American Auto Industry had to Offer During Tough Economic Times
Stergeron of the Men’s lifestyle blog, Ploomy, jumped at the opportunity to test drive a Lincoln MKS because he wanted to see first-hand what the American auto industry had to offer during these tough economic times. His drive in the Lincoln MKS exceeded his expectations, surprised a few of his co-workers and renewed his hope that the American auto industry will turn around.
“After the car was dropped off, I asked a couple people in the office to come check out the MKS. Both were impressed with the stance of the car. “It looks mean. Look at that grill, it’s a BEAST”, said one of them. The other said, “Wow, it’s not what I expected.” Read into those comments all you want, but I was equally impressed when I first saw the MKS.”
You can read a more in-depth account over at Ploomy and view some cool photos of the MKS. http://www.ploomy.com/2009/05/12/2009-lincoln-mks-review/
