Borgman Ford Boosts Komen GR Race for the Cure in Rivertown

September 22nd, 2009

Ford Warriors in PinkSeptember 22, 2009  GRAND RAPIDS, MI –   Family-owned Borgman Ford is revving up to add some drive to the Komen Grand Rapids Race for the Cure to raise money for the fight against breast cancer. Walkers, runners or folks who just want to discover “Why Ford” can have an extra $20 donated to the Grand Rapids Komen cause just by downloading a certificate (visit: www.fordcares.com to download) and taking a test drive in one of Borgman’s fabulous Fords. Make sure you tell your Borgman representative to supply you with the dealer code to enter on the Ford Cares website as proof of your test drive. Enter the code on the www.fordcares.com site and you’ll have made your contribution.

“Participating in this event was a natural for us,” said John Borgman, second generation owner of the historic dealership located on 28th Street in Grandville. “We believe in making a difference in our community. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, and 40,000 will die this year. How can you not want to do everything in your power to fight those odds.”

Borgman encourages everyone to start with the easy money and then register for the race. The Grand Rapids Komen Race for the Cure is slated for September 26, 2009 at the Rivertown Crossings Mall in Grandville. The Race for the Cure is a 5k (3.1 mile) run or walk and you can have your race timed or just walk for fun.  Support this effort and join a team by logging onto www.komengr.org and clicking the Race for the Cure tab. Set a personal fundraising goal and start collecting donations from your friends and family. Let them know donations as little as $5 still help make a difference in the lives of the 180,000 women affected by breast cancer each year.
